About Me
Welcome to my blog. I am Product Unit Manager of the UI Framework
and Services team at Microsoft, which is responsible for
framework technologies such as
ASP.NET,
Windows Forms,
and Atlas.
I have been involved with ASP.NET for
almost six years. I first started working with ASP.NET
as a Developer Lead designing the ASP.NET mobile controls.
I then joined the ASP.NET team as Software Architect,
and got to design and prototype some of the new features in
ASP.NET 2.0, such as adapters, themes, and the configuration system.
Most recently, as Group Program Manager of
the Web Platform and Tools team, I had the privilege of leading the PM team
responsible for designing both ASP.NET and the web development
tools in Visual Studio, including
Visual Web Developer.
I've been at Microsoft for over eight years, and am still excited
every day by the new challenges and opportunities to ship great products
for our customer community, and by the chance to work with an amazing group
of people.
Before joining Microsoft, I spent several years working at a
company called Astound (formerly Gold Disk), working on cool
presentation and multimedia software for Windows. It was a great place
to really learn Windows inside out, experience life as a Windows developer,
and build great software in small teams. Although Astound has since been acquired, and
much of what we did is history, it
lives on
thanks to the web.
Outside work, I spend most of my time with my family - my
wonderful wife Maryanne, and my two daughters, Acacia and Kyra.
Being originally from India, I also have an avid interest in
the sport of cricket,
and an obsession with trains - the
Indian Railways
in particular.
I graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1994 with a degree
in Computer Science. Waterloo has a great co-op education program,
and I was very lucky to have internships at IBM and Microsoft
(working on the first version of Windows NT!).
